The Collaborative on Health and the Environment – OregonA Partnership Network for Environmental Health |
Collaborative on Health and the Environment – OregonThis site is under development. The Oregon Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE-OR) is an active network of organizations and individuals who share the basic goal of improving human health by reducing exposure to toxins in our bodies and the environment. The network includes health care practitioners, researchers, academics, health patient advocates and environmental leaders. Some active participants in CHE-OR include representatives from CROET (Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology) at OHSU, the Oregon Medical Association, Oregon Nurses Association, the American Lung Association of Oregon and the Community Lead Education Project (CLEP) among many others. CHE-OR moves the environmental health movement forward in Oregon by furthering productive debate and cooperative efforts, fostering productive action on human environmental health issues, and disseminating the best scientific information about these concerns. The goal is to support and enhance existing efforts, not duplicate them. CHE-OR has a listserv for the purposes of sharing new research, upcoming events and policy/regulatory initiatives related to environmental health issues in the Northwest. We welcome all interested CHE Partners. For more information on how you can get involved in CHE-OR, please contact Renee Hackenmiller-Paradis, program director of the Oregon Environmental Council and coordinator of CHE-OR, at reneep@oeconline.org or 503-222-1963 ext. 110. Update on CHE-OR Activities, July 2007Biomonitoring Project (aka Oregon Pollution in People Study)The Oregon Pollution in People Study has reached a new milestone – all the laboratory results are in! The media/research working group is frantically putting together the report and incorporating the results. Expect a full report to be published in September. This report will serve as both a public education campaign and a catalyst for future chemical policy reform in Oregon.
